How do you use a remote desktop sharing software to watch a movie and video chat?

What I am exactly interested in doing is watching a movie with a remote user and videochatting at the same time. I guess we would simply install one of the many softwares on the internet and play a dvd and be able to be watching it at the same time. Meanwhile, running something like MSN to videochat during the movie. I guess others have videoconferencing applications. Just wanted to confirm if my understanding is correct. It's my first time. Any suggestions on easy to use free softwares?

With skype you can do a video call where you can just talk and you can do a screen sharing where you could play the movie on your computer and your friend would also be able to watch it and you would both still be able to hear eachother.

But if you want to just watch the movie yourself and still video chat then you could wear earphones so that only you could hear the movie
