How do you train a horse to lounge? How to train a wild colt?

HOW TO TRAIN A HORSE TO LOUNGE- I have a mare that is around 18 years old. Every time I try to lounge her she walks toward me! If I crack the lounge whip she just holds her head up and away. I have tried a broomstick to push her out, whips (not hitting her), and chain ropes but I can't get her to stay out when I lounge her!! Please help!
HOW TO TRAIN A WILD COLT- He was born June 28, 2009. I had him a little good for the first week but we went on a family vacation for a 2 days and that's when he lost it. I can't catch him, he will sort of let us pet him, he nibbles, he runs away, he jumps fences, he is just all-around bad for us. I really don't want to sell him so does anyone have any ideas on what to do?

First question. Lunging. To get your horse to move forward you need to get to her hip and drive her from behind. If shes turning to face you she has probably been taught that. Perhaps thru ground work and "Hooking on" or "Join up". Keep moving to get behind her and when she moves forward take the pressure off and stay behind her which requires you to move to until she gets it.

Second question: He's a young stallion that has had no halter breaking or training on manners yet! If you do not know how to work with a young horse to get him halter broke and mannered then find a good trainer in your area that works with young horses to get him on track and show you what needs to be done to keep him going! He was born in June and its now Jan? That is 7 months ago.. You should have been doing something with him all along and a 2 day vacation didn't make this problem. If he's jumping fences you need a better fence or when he really learns he's a stallion you will really be in trouble. Good luck

You need to get some lessons from someone near you. Wait to handle the colt until you get help, you are teaching him lots of bad habits without knowing it and making the situation worse.
