How do you tip at a place you eat?

I was just wondering if you eat at a place, like a pizza place, does your tip change by the amount of people you have with you? If so, how?

regardless of the number of people in a group: 10%= bad/mediocre service; 15%=good/standard service; 18%=really good service; 20%=outstanding service; anything past that (additionally) = they gave you free stuff/ they went above and beyond, etc.

i think they only time you would tip extra if you were in a larger group of people is if the people in your group were being 'difficult' to the waitstaff or you just feel like being really really nice. but also keep in mind that many restaurants charge an automatic tip (gratuity) of 18% on tables of 6 or more people (which, if they do, it should say so on the bottom of the bill), so beware, and only tip more if necessary.

Well most of the time....I think in order to leave a good tip then the waitress must do her job right....most peopl leave tips based on looks...but when a waitress gets a good tip then she thinks she has done a good job....when she doesnt make good tips then she knows that she didnt do something right...(MOST CASES) I have been a waitress for almost 8 years....So when I go out to eat I usually do it like a bid...place your tip on how well he/she does their job...and if there is a large group then everyone should leave what they think he/she has deserved..

I base the tip around how our server is with us. If he/she has been particularly kind to us, I'll leave a tip around 20 - 25% (if they're absolutely wonderful/members of the family). I had an absolutely terrible time a few weeks back, and we left about $3 for a bill of $60. Ironically, the restaurant closed down a few days back.

When it comes to groups, if you split the bill, you can tip him/her 15 - 20% of what you paid, if you'd like. Although, the bigger the group, the nicer you should be to the waitstaff, especially if they went out of your way for you.

But for the most part, I'd base the tip off how well the service was when it comes to how the meal was during your evening.
