How do you tell when your low on gas on a pre 07 kawasaki ninja?

i know very little on motorcycles...and im planning on buying used 250r in a year or so when i take my MSF courses...just curious(sharp details please).....thanks
thats true but when that light comes on how many miles do i have left?
 
well there should be a red indicator flashing that ur low on gas?? its like in a car
 
Well lets see, a PRE 07? I dont beleive those are fuel injected so its very simple.

Set your petcock to the normal on position. Fill up your tank. Ride it till you sputter! Then switch to reserve.


Fuel Capacity = 4.8 gal.
Reserve capacity = Going to guess about .8 gal


so even at 50 MPG, which you should TOTALLY be blowing out of the water you have at least 40miles before you totally stall. So, start resetting your trip odometer everytime you fuel and youll know EXACTLY where your fuel range is at.
