How do you tell somebody that you think they are in serious financial trouble? How

do you offer help? Okay here is the deal, my mother in law is in serious financial trouble. She has a house that she is still paying off, a beach house she just bought for 250,000 dollars (got it for a deal because we bought it from family and used inheritance money towards it), with that they just spent 26,000 dollars on a brand new car (that honestly they didn't need at all).

Needless to say we know they are having money issues, they tell us they are broke especially now that they bought the car. We came up with two good options where it involves us selling our house (we just bought) and buying there home they have now for what we sold our home for and having them find a home that is a lot cheaper that they can afford along with the new beach house, or option B where we both sell our homes, and my husband and I buy a duplex for all of us to live in (being neighbors) don't charge them anything- and just have them financially responsible for the beach house (that we would one day love for our children to have on the count that it was built with his step fathers hands- whom adopted my husband).

How do we tell an over-bearing control person who won't admit to defeat or any troubles. Were talking to her tomorrow..

I think she got herself into this mess and she should get herself out of it. Don't sell your home. No one made her buy all that crap but her. She is an over bearing controlling person. Do you really want to help her? She will either be offended and never let you live it down. Or she will start taking advantage of you. Do yourself a favor and stay out of it.
