How do you take pictures through a fence without having it block the image?

I am going to be taking pictures of Tigers. The fence is chainlink, with 4x4 holes. State laws keeps me at 3-4 feet away from the fence so I can not stick my lense through the fence. How do I go about taking the picture to prevent the fence from ruining the picture. I'm pretty sure you zoon out as far as possible and get close, but I can't get that close.... I only have a lense that zooms up to 200mm.

You use a manual focus. You have to override the auto focus, it should be an option somewhere on most cameras unless it is a cell phone one. Once you set it to manual, you can zoom in as much as you want.
