how do you take care of a garden snail?

Because I found one yesterday and I wanted to keep it as a pet so I put a lot of leaves in it and some not riped peachs with rotting wood is that good or bad??

Please help me!!!!!!!!
I do mist some water in it like every 6 hours and before i had the snail in the fish tank i did have tutles in i so i do now what you are talking about.
 
I would also put some water in the area your keeping it in. You know those fish tanks where they keep those painted tertals in when you go to the pet store? If you know what I'm talking about try something like that but not as pig and not as costly!
 
I can't imagine you wanting to keep it... I have war on snails and slugs alike, they eat my garden. They like wet dark places and they eat plants, grass, and vegetable plants. They seem to prefer squash, cucumbers, sunflower and tomato.
