HOW DO YOU TAKE A LIEN OFF A CAR?

When I bought my car my friend gave me a loan and put a lien on the car. I've paid it off and now I want to sell the car. His name is still on the title as the first lien holder. How do I go about clearing the title?
But when people say "sign it over," how do we do that? Do I have to go to the DMV to sign it over or can he just sign it?

Your friend needs to and should have signed off on the lien when you paid it off. Anything else is fraud. Good luck.

I believe you need to go to either DMV office or the bank. Show that you paid it off, they should take the lien off.

have friend sign tittle over to you or sign friends name to title or have someone sign friends name to tittle
