Spoofing us?! PLEASE HELP!? Long story short, yesterday morning, calls from a friend/business associate started coming in to my father's mobile phone at about 7:30am.
He left the phone in the other room while making breakfast so he missed 4 of these calls... ALL 4 showed up as, lets call him "Friend-John" and were coming in from both "Friend-John's" Personal Mobile Phone AND his Business Land Line.
My father, thinking something was wrong or something important was happening called "Friend-John" on one of the 2 numbers to see what was wrong and "Friend-John" informed my father that his landline was calling his mobile phone and his mobile phone was calling his landline and giving the same pre-recorded message about "Buying Porn Videos" that my father was getting.
So we called our carrier and he called both his cellular carrier and his landline carrier and they said that nothing was wrong...
It stopped for about 16 hours and now they have started again... Twice it was the "Buying Porn Videos" and twice it was a clip from the Howard Stern Show about an Indian Guy Kicking A Dog or something stupid like that. (I don't know, that is what my father told me... LOL)
The carriers both say that it is "Spoofing" and that someone that knows both my father and "Friend-John" is fu*king with them for fun.
A guy that dislikes both "Friend-John" and my father just got a new computer but he isn't really sophisticated about using it so there is doubt if he is even ABLE to do something like this, even though something this retarded is in his petty, childish nature...
There are 2 possible suspects but we can't prove anything...
I have 2 questions:
1. Is there any way to STOP this spoofing without having to change phone numbers?
2. Is there any way to trace who is doing this so we can report him to someone and have him fined or at least spoken to?
