How do you start playing Drums on Hard and Expert Mode on the Video Game Rock Band...

...2 (Any RB Drums Experts!!!)? I mean I play Guitar on Expert easily with about 90-100% on all songs I play, but i just got the Rock Band 2 Drum Set 3 days ago and i thought i could just jump right into it on expert. Boy i was wrong. its harder than i've ever thought it was going to be. now i'm all the way to medium mode and i beat like Pain Killers and Panic Attack and most of the other impossible song list with about 90+% on all the songs. but when i even try one song on hard, its an EPIC FAIL EVERY TIME!!! the pedal is the main thing thats throwing me off along with the other different combination of pads. Please somebody give me tips on how to master hard or even expert mode in a little amount of time. am i'm holding the sticks wrong, are the drums too high or low, or is the pedal too close or too far from me? ( I take the pedal off the hoop thing sometimes because i'm long and my leg fall asleep trying to press the thing about 3 or 4 times a second every time.) Please Help : (
