How do you shade and paint your drawing to make it look real in photoshop?

I drew a real life person and I scanned it into photoshop and I want to know how to shade it and make it look real. I looked on youtube and I found what I was looking for but when they show you on youtube they go way to fast. Its the speed trial and I don't like that because I can't follow it. Can anyone please help me? Thank you.
 
if you are following anything on video from youtube then download it onto your computer that way you can play the video back over and over again.

you need to be using firefox web browser, for a start, then download the add on download helper play the video then click on download helper icon on the top task bar to download the video clip on to your desktop
