How do you reverse a 97 Yamaha Warrior 350?

How do you get it into reverse? I had it in neutral, and pulled the reverse lever on the side and it stalled. Do I need to use the clutch or what? Ive never driven a quad with a clutch before so be detailes please and dumb it down for me. Thank you.

Squeeze the clutch lever, pull the reverse handle, press the shift lever down, let out the clutch lever.
