How do you remove the u joint from a 1995 chevrolet cavalier?

You don't.....a front wheel drive doesn't have a U joint. A U joint connects the transmission to the driveshaft and the driveshaft to the rearend of a REAR wheel drive vehicle. A front wheel drive car has 2 CV joints, one outer and one inner that connect the transmission directly to the front wheels. Most often you buy the entire rebuilt axle already assembled for around $60 a piece. If you are talking about CV joints, yes it is difficult. You have to take off the wheel, disconnect the strut assembly from your lower control arm and ball joint, remove hub nut from the hub assembly and bang the CV joint out of the hub. Then pry the other end of the axle from the transmission. A cheap shop will do it for $50 labor for each side.
 
That's a front wheel drive car,and don't have u-joints . It has drive axles which is call cv joints, First thing you need to do is see which side is bad .Now you need to jack the side of the car that has the bad cv joint & remove the tire. You will see that the axle runs though the rotor and it has a big nut that holds it on , you will need to remove the big nut. you will also need to remove the strut and tie- rod end you also will need to remove the spindle from the upper control arm, you should be about ready to remove the cv joint . you should be able to get a new from your local auto parts store, it will cost you $ 35. - $ 100 bucks for a new one.
