how do you remove a fuse on a '94 dodge dakota?

My windshield wipers stopped working so i'm trying to check the fuses, but I can't get them out. I don't want to end up breaking them, so I was wondering if there's a certain way to do it. I don't have an owner's manual (used car) so if anyone has any additional information just in genereal...that would be great
