how do you reduce the amount of grease that is splattered on the stove while cooking

bacon? every time my husband is cooking bacon the stove is left with a film of grease on it. which he never remembers to wipe off. i don't seem to remember this happening when i cook. why is it this happens for him, and what can he do to prevent it.
