I work for AT&T in the postpaid department but we still get a lot of prepaid questions. Basically the way a phone is activated is by activating the SIM in the phone. So you can either go to an AT&T store or possibly call AT&T and ask for the prepaid department and see if they can send you an activate SIM with prepaid service with it. Hope this helps.

Im thinking about turning it back on for my 15 yr old niece for a "starter phone". Are there any pay-as-you-go places to re-activate it?
