How do you parenthetically cite an author with multiple articles on a reference page?

I wrote a paper for a class and have one author as a source but he has many articles I've used from the same newspaper he writes for. How do I cite him appropriately?

For example: John Smith wrote 5 articles for the same newspaper on different dates (Jan, Feb, March, April, May 2009).

Would I cite it like: (Smith, Jan 2009)?
