In the past, I have always used other people's brushes to make backgrounds for pictures and websites. I would like to know how to make my own brushes and textures that can be used on various backgrounds (extracted from real photos). I poked around and found an endless amount of tutorials on how to create specific types of textures digitally, but none that explain the actual process of creating your own.
