What are some things you can do to make your writing more fun and lively for the reader? It seems somewhat boring. Description, dialogue, description...Gah. What can you add to keep your reader interested? Interesting dialogue doesn't seem to do it either. Have you ever read The Yearling? Some parts get a little thick, even the parts with interesting dialogue and whatnot. How do you make the story more lively and vibrant?

The words you use. Make sure they fit the background setting and the mood, and then make sure to use them to describe characters as well. Such as if a character is dark and gloomy, describe them using those words and talk about his speech that way. It all depends on the words you use.
