How do you make cool lazer like lines in photoshop?

I have no idea what im talking about when it comes to photoshop and dont even know if it makes sense what im asking about but i want to make cool lines of light or something. Im not necessarily looking for it to look realistic, maybe more abstract.

Im pretty clueless but i want to make something cool looking out of the cool lines. I realize i probably sound like an idiot.
