Hi I am really wanting to make some bread sticks, I tried one recipe I found and they did not taste to good. I want to make some bread sticks like pizza hut or olive garden? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and I do not have dry milk, so any recipe that allows to have regular milk would be great. Thanks!

all it is, is Pizza dough basted in butter then toasted

ITALIAN PARMESAN TWISTS
1 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1 1/2 tsp. Italian herb seasoning
1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed, (I use canned bread sticks)
1/3 c. melted butter
Pizza sauce, warmed
Heat oven to 450 degrees. In a 9 inch pie pan combine Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning. Divide dough into 8 sections; divide each section into 4 pieces. (There should be 32 pieces of dough). Roll each piece into 1 inch rope. Dip each rope in melted butter; roll in Parmesan mixture. Twist rope 3 times. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with pizza sauce for dipping.

This is a basic pizza dough recipe that you can make bread sticks out of. when i made them they were just as good as olive garden's bread sticks. you can add some finely chopped garlic and finely chopped rosemary to the flour mixture for extra flavor.
pizza dough-makes 2 crusts or 12 thick bread sticks.
Ingredients:
•1 envelope active dry yeast
•1 cup warm water, 110° F.
•1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
•2 1/4 tp 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
•2 tablespoons olive oil
•1 teaspoon salt
Preparation:
Put warm water in a cup; sprinkle yeast over water and stir in sugar; let stand for about 10 minutes, until it begins to bubble.
Combine 2 1/4 cups flour and salt in a large bowl; pour in oil and yeast mixture and stir until a stiff dough is formed. Turn dough out onto a floured surface; knead about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Add extra flour as needed to keep from sticking to hands and board.

Place in a large bowl greased with oil; turn dough over to coat the dough well. Cover with towel and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. Dough should double in bulk. Punch down the dough and shape to fit a lightly greased pizza pan which as been sprinkled lightly with cornmeal. Keep dough slightly thick around the edges. Fill with favorite filling and toppings and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes at 425°.
make only the amount of bread sticks you want at one time and refrigerate the rest of the dough so you can make them fresh every time.
For Bread Sticks: Roll dough into a rectangle about 1-inch thick. Cut into desired number of strips. Place on a lightly greased cookie sheet. Brush with melted butter (you can add more garlic to the butter) and sprinkle lightly with salt. Allow rise for about 20 minutes,
Bake in a 425*F oven for 10 minutes, or until golden brown.
You can brush with more butter and sprinkle on Parmesan cheese. Serve with garlic butter, pizza sauce. Best eaten warm right from the oven.

Soft Garlic Breadsticks

2 1/2 cups bread flour
3 teaspoons instant yeast
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon butter, softened
1/4 cup hot water
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Directions

Fit your food processor with a steel blade. Place the bread flour, yeast, sugar, salt, Italian seasoning, garlic, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan and softened butter in the processor; pulse to blend. Stir together hot water, milk and egg. Start the processor and slowly pour in the milk mixture into the feed tube until a ball forms around the blade. Run for 30 seconds to knead. Remove dough from processor and knead briefly by hand. Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 1 hour.

Deflate the dough, and turn it out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll the dough into a 10x12 inch rectangle. Use a knife or pizza cutter to slice the dough lengthwise into ten strips, and then cut these strips in half. Brush tops of strips with 2 tablespoons melted butter, and sprinkle with 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese. Cover, and let rise until nearly double, about 30 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Bake in preheated oven for 18 to 23 minutes, or until golden brown. Turn broiler on, and brush breadsticks with remaining melted butter and Parmesan cheese. Broil just until the cheese starts to turn light brown, about 2 to 3 minutes. Serve warm.

Or you can buy pilsbury breadstcks in a can they are just as good.

I like to serve them with heated pizza suce for dipping.
