How do you know when your child is truly interested in joining sports?

My 4 year old daughter, who will turn 5 in April, says she wants to join soccer. Sign up is this week. She's played a little bit with us in our yard and such, but she's not a die hard fan or anything. I just wonder how she'll do. I'm afraid of signing her up and then her not really wanting to do it once she gets there. I know she says she wants to join, but what if that does happen? Do I make her continue the season? Or let her quit if she decides she doesn't like it?
 
We always made them stick the season out once they had been signed up. I understand some places start younger but we used 1st grade as the starting point with everything besides dance. At that age it's suppose to be about teaching very basic things and fun.
