how do you know if a kidney stone has passed

I have been in pain for 4 days now.My urine has been like a dark brown w/ tons of tiny sand like grains in it.it's turning bake to it's normal color but my right side,back,spine,lower stomach is all still hurting i thought i was going to die last night it was so painfull.Was it a kidney stone & if so has it already passed?
 
If all the stones have passed then you shouldnt still have the extreme pain. You might have a little soreness but not the intense pain. You may have more than one stone and have to wait for them all to pass. It can take days or weeks, but once it stops hurting you'll know the stones have passed. If you haven't been to a doctor and gotten a scan then there is no way to know how many to watch for.
