How do you kill with kindness?

It means doing something which you think is kind but is fact causing harm.
For example you may think that giving a child a bag of peanuts is kind. But if the child was allergic to nuts your gift could kill him.

It's not a general statement, but meant for a specific situation. That is, if someone has done wrong to you, instead of making the situation worse by doing wrong in return, you repay them with kind acts. This has the additional benefit of making them feel miserable for what they did to you in the first place, thus "killing" them with your kindness.

Similar expressions have been in use for centuries. The Bible talks about repaying evil with good, and in so doing "heaping burning coals upon their head."
