how do you have have to wait to have sex after a miscarriage?

i figured it was just until you were no longer bleeding and ready to do it as long as you make sure you use protection until after your first period..

anyways i was talking to a friend yesterday and she said "it must suck not being able to have sex for 3months on top of the whole miscarriage thing..."

she usually knows what shes talking about when it comes to babies and stuff relating to them but it just doesnt seem right to me..
 
my doc said 8 weeks after my d&c. you know you could ask your doctor, he or she would be the best person to answer this.
