how do you get sponsored in a video game?

I am looking to get some money and i play video games kindof alot and am pretty good at a few games and was wondering if getting sponsored would be an option and if so, how to go about doing it.
so like do i just go to gamestop and say 'hey i wana be sponsered' and they say 'aight show us your stuff' or what?
 
Most likely go to mlg.com and look for tournament locations and if you are good enough to win one of those and get recruited on a team the teams all have sponsors. Just make sure you are VERY good at the games, lol, cuz since it has been turned into a career I don't think 'pwning teh noobs' would cut it in the big leagues. And I am not saying your not I am just saying they are some of the best people in the world, lol. Good luck though I hope to watch you play a match someday, try and get it aired on G4! I love watching MLG on G4.
 
Show off your skill on you tube, by making frag movies of you owning, joining tournaments that are dedicated on the game your best at.
 
MLG if you go to a local gamestop, you may be sponsered. But I mean MLG is like nonstop Major League Gaming. Its like a sport.
