how do you get rid of hard water stains in a fish tank?

My brother has a 20 gallon tank that he used to have fish in.he didn't realy take care of the tank and I was wondering what I could use?I would like to use the tank agian,but I don't want to hurt the fish im going to put in it.
 
You can go to the pet store and get a scraper for the aquarium. It usually has a long handle and a double-edge razor blade in it. It is ideal for scraping everything of the inside of Glass aquariums. The razor blade is held flat against the glass, so there isn't any likely hood of scratching the glass. You use it while the water and fish are still in the tank.
