How do you get pictures from your sidekick onto facebook or your computer?

I have a Sidekick, (T-Mobil 2008 version) and I lost my old USB cord that I used to download photos onto my computer and facebook, and so I bought a new one and it simply won't work! It doesn't even register that my phone is plugged into the computer, is it defective????? what to do??????
