how do you get photos shown on the camera ?

today my friend some how deleted all the photos off my mums sony cyber-shot 7.2 megapixel camera accidentally. We then downloaded a software that retrieved deleted photos. When all of them came back i saved them in a file on my desktop. I dragged the files onto the memory card. When i turned on the camera none of the photos were shown when i presses the view button. I changed the folder to the one i saved the photos in but the file said it contained 0 photos. I plugged the camera back into the computer and checked and the files were there. How do you get them to show up ?
