I just bought a side cover for an 81 xr100 Honda dirt bike(which are extremely hard to find), and someone did a terrible red paint job on it. How do I get the paint off with out hurting the red colored plastic underneath. I know there are auto paint strippers, but I know they will eat the plastic. Any one ever used any thing that works?
I didn't want to repaint. The original color of the plastic is red, and that's the only color the 81 xr100s came in. The parts where the paint is chipped, the plastic looks good(not all scrached up, or faded). I have no idea why someone painted it like they did. I want to leave it all natural when I get done. I had to settle for this side cover because I have looked for a very long time, and haven't been able to find another one.
