How do you fix an APEX TV/VCR that for no reason says "Insert a Cassette"?

I have a APEX TV/VCR/DVD 20 inch TV which I use in my bedroom, but lately it has been saying "No, Cassette, Insert a Cassette" in red on the screen, it come on all the time (every minute) and you can not change the channel when it is on. I do ont use the build in VCR, is there a way to stop these problem, or disable the VCR?
