I have fished a little for each. I was always with someone else, so I didn't know exactly what I was doing. I have never caught a walleye. I used a lindy rig and a leech/nightcrawler. I would troll, and leave the deadbolt open, hold the line, and when I felt bites, I would let line go for 10 secs (5 with leech), then flip deadbolt closed, set the hook, pull it in. I caught bass but no walleye, but I was fishing in the middle of the day. Also I have a weak pole that might snap. http://images.overstock.com/f/102/3117/8h/www.overstock.com/images/products/L10326023a.jpg
The rod on the right is about how thick my rod is. I use 12 pound test. Will my rod be able to hold up?
About northern... I have caught them before, and I just use a Gold Doctor or a daredevil. I believe you take these fish off about the same way.
OK, what I want to know, will my rod hold up, how do you take a northern pike/walleye off a hook, and how do you fish them effectively (What time of day, what kind of area). Please help!!! Also, I'm MAINLY interested in walleye, especially to eat. Northern, not so much, they're only good for catching not eating.
Thanks!
