How do you find the time to rewatch old shows?

I know some people here watch lots of cartoons and live-action shows, most of which ended a few years ago and people own the DVDs.

My question is, how do people find the time to rewatch all your old shows? Even without commercials, it still takes hours upon hours to do a complete run-through of your favorite show, especially ones that last 5+ seasons or whatever.

For those of you who have so many older shows that you were a fan of, how do you find the time to rewatch through them all?

With my DVD collection, I usually watch one disc a day if I'm doing the whole "entire show in order" thing. I've done this with "The Simpsons", and I'm planning to do it again for "Futurama" once the fourth movie comes out next week.

The only shows that I regularly watch on dvd are shows that aren't on tv all the time. Shows like The Simpsons and Family Guy seem to be on television like 24/7. The shows that I watch on dvd regularly are shows like the original Transformers, Thundercats, the original TMNT, Beast Wars, etc.

:^: This. The only shows that I have DVDs for are the ones that don't air on TV anymore. I don't own a single Family Guy or Futurama DVD set because those shows are still being shown on television (the former airs all over the place).

As for when I watch them, it's usually when I'm sitting at home when there's nothing on TV and I'm not invoved with or preoccupied with something else.

I'll dip into my DVD collection from time to time, depending on what I'm in the mood for (usually Aqua Teen or Invader ZIM)

I'm typically a busy gal, so I mostly watch any DVDs of cartoons (or whatever) after I finish work. I have a good three hours or so of free time to do so before I hop onto bed.

Yeah, but any show sold into syndication will have footage edited out to make room for more commercials. It's worth the money to watch the unedited versions on DVD (especially with The Simpsons, where I was seeing footage I hadn't seen in years with each boxed set).

The simpsons gets uncut double airings Monday-friday here in Puerto Rico so.. I catch them everytime. other shows, well.. that's why they made Hulu :) and.. I find a way to organize myself. There's time for everything if you know how to handle it.

There's about twenty seasons of The Simpsons. And I only buy season sets of shows when they're down to around $20. So say the show ends after 20 seasons, and you purchase them all on dvd. Even at a good price, you're gonna end up paying at least $400 for a show that's on tv all the time.

I prefer to save my money for the season set of shows that can only be seen on dvd.

I watch Reruns of KOTH & simpsons Every night on my local FOX station & Reruns of MASH & the Andy Griffith show on TV land. and if im still bored ever now & then I'll get out the old invader Zim DVDs and laugh till my squiddly spooch hurts! (pardon the Zim Pun! )

When there's very little, if any at all, current shows worth watching, it's fairly easy. Usually I might watch something while working out, or just taking a 'break' from video games ()

It helps if you watch at night, that way there are little or no distractions (phone calls, other noises, etc.) and you're free to sit back and focus completely on the show.

If I'm really determined to rewatch the WHOLE thing, I try to do a disc or more a day. Otherwise I just select the specific episode I want.

But DVD's aren't always unaltered. In fact, shows like Beavis and Butt-Head and Duckman are more hacked-up on DVD than they ever were on television. And that's not even going into live-action cases like ALF, Mama's Family, the first seasons of Roseanne and Cosby Show, etc.

Usualy a couple times a week I will find time to pop in one of my DVD's of classic cartoons and enjoy them, but lately I have been doing more anime and movies instead of classic american animation. I need to revisit some old favorites soon, maybe I will find time next week. But yeah, I find time because I don't watch much live action TV shows, I usualy watch sports and animation.

I actually don't have the time to watch a lot of the DVDs I own a first time through; for example, I have a couple of Lupin III movies that I've owned for a good four years or so but never got around to watching.

Yet I still keep buying new DVDs.

So for me, I won't even entertain the thought of rewatching some of my DVDs until I've gone through and have at least watched all the ones I have a first time.

Yeah, that's my primary draw for the Simpsons DVDs. I got Seasons 10 and 11, and I'm planning to buy all the really crappy seasons too, just so I can hear the commentaries - occasionally, I gain a new insight into episodes I despised before (I developed a new appreciation for a few Season 9 episodes that way).
