How do you find music that you actually like?

I couldn't tell you how I find the music that I like

I found my passion for Japanese music at age 14 when I used to go to Japan Club at school and I wanted to find out more to do with their culture and music.
Although, my specific favourite artists are quite random.

I found Emilie Autumn on YouTube.... back in 2005 I believe, I was looking through random 'home-made' music videos and someone used the song What If and I fell in love with it.

As for John Barrowman.... well I've had a passion for musicals since I was really young (I don't know why since no one else in my family likes musicals) and my love for his musical work specifically is quite recent and it began when I saw him in Robin Hood last month (so yes very recent) and his voice just blew me away and I then had to find more.

So I can tell you the back-stories of where I found some of my favourite artists.... however, there is nothing that links the way I found out about them.

Take a genre you like/want to check out, go to Pandora, click the genre, click the sub genre (however they do that), listen, thurabs up/thurabs down.

That works for me.

Usually works very well. The only probably though I have found with Pandora is if you put in a very mainstream banRAB such as Audioslave, everything that is played will be almost equally as mainstream. I always tend to start my stations with a lesser known band so that new ones I have never heard will come up.
