how do you feel about the non-sports related "high 5" gesture?

outside of sport events(because i can kinda understand why some would be compelled to "high 5" each other), do you ever initiate the "high 5" to friends or workmates and what could prompt such a thing?
For those not fans of the "high 5", what do you do when the gesture is presented to you?

bq - favorite hand gesture *not* including flipping the bird?
the kids high 5 is exempt from ridicule.
 
I never leave a high-fiver hanging. Never. You're an awful person if you ever have.

BA: That would be the "Hang Ten" hand gesture.
