Sorry, this is a long read.

If you haven't heard, the new Medal of Honor game is out soon, just one problem according to some, it let's you play as the bad guys, aka THE TALIBAN!!!1 OMFG!!! Well, playing as a virtual terrorist is wrong according to the US Army, Navy and British military. Portraying virtual taliban soldiers killing virtual american and british soldiers is wrong in their eyes.

Hold on a minute, wtf? Can our own military not tell the difference between fantasy and reality? It's a video game for christ's sake. The US and British military are saying that the game is wrong because in real life many have lost loved ones at the hands of the taliban. Hmm, I guess that's a good reason. Until we look at the fact that millions of people lost loved ones in WW2, the setting for the last Medal of Honor game which let you control virtual Nazi and American soldiers, yet I did not hear a single complaint or banning of the game from any military. I guess it's ok if it happened a long time ago, right?

On that point, didn't Modern Warfare 2 treat us to a level where you gunned down innocents in an airport? I can find 40 copies of Modern Warfare 2 at my local PX. Seriously, I don't understand the problem here. I'm in the US Army and I find nothing wrong with playing as a virtual terrorist, perhaps this has something to do with that fact that I can distinguish between reality and fantasy. Hell, my dad even got shot by a terrorist in Afghanistan, that doesn't mean I'm not going to play the game because virtual terrorists can't do anything.

On a final note, my great grandfather gave his life during WW2, so sorry Tom Hanks, Saving private Ryan is offensive to me and must immediately be pulled from the shelves of PX's everywhere. On top of that, any movie depicting violence should be banned too because In real life people get hurt and killed in war all the time and hell, we don't need those trashy movies in our stores. Seriously people, where do we draw the line? I bet EA is loving the free publicity, I'm sure they will be laughing all the way to the bank.
