How do you do well on tests in high school?

Like ive been doing bad on tests, but i study for them. i dont really memorize my material the day i get it becaues i rush through homework. but my thinking is that i can just get everything memorized the day before....cuz i am wiling to put the time tos tudy. but it doesnt work...i seem to know the material but im getting bad grades....

Since you acknowledge that your approach doesn't work why not change? Try reviewing your material daily. When you get to exam time then you will be able to go over the stuff that is more difficult since you have already reviewed the other stuff. The other issue may be that you don't take tests well. Just keep working at it and you'll surprise yourself. You might want to talk to some of your teachers too since they may be able to help you with why you missed some of their questions. Tell them - hey, I know that stuff so lets discuss why I'm not doing well.

well try memorizing the easy stuff after you think you have it for sure then try the hard stuff that works for me im not the smart kind really but i always get that.

Don't rush through the homework. Depending on what your studying for the homework could be a good indicator for whats on the test. Take your time and make sure you understand everything. When your reading out of a text book, take a minutes or two after reading a few pages and ask yourself " What do I know on_____" and " What's it trying to tell me" Also, memorizing things the day before a test works for some people and others not so much, so study a little a few days before the test and get the info. into your long term memory. Hope I helped.
