How do you delete contacts off a HTC Wildfire?

When you know how you'll kick yourself.
step 1 main screen there is a plus button and an arrow tap arrow buton.
step 2 tap the app that says all people or htc people this will bring up your contact list.
step 3 tap the contect you wish to delete this will bring up their details.
step 4 touch the menu button (the word menu).
step 5 touch the delete button . took me ages to find this out ,easy when you know how
