How do you complain about price changes on menu after eating?

This is crazy,I was at a resturant ,ordered,ate the food , got the check and realized they had charged me more than the price menu said.When I asked the waitress about it she said "well, it says on the back of the menu that prices are subject to change". And sure enough it did in tiny letters.I could'nt believe it and told the manager that that was not good business practices.Has this ever happened to anyone ?

The manager wouldn't honour the price on the menu?

I would write a formal letter (not an email) to the president of the company telling him what happened.

Maybe the manager is scamming customers and taking the extra money.
 
Happens everyday ...I worked in the restaurant for yrs.It even happens at Mcdonalds DAILY!
a piece of plain sausage will go for 1.09 to 1,10 to 1,19 and the pirces on the billboard will be totally wrong.Then i go back the next week and its 1.09 again?
but yet a sausage biscuit and hasbrown 1.39 explain that?
yet my grandbaby wont eat it if she sees the bread.lol
but it does happen often i just dont think people pay close enough attention to whats being rung up when it's done.
 
No it hasn't happened to me but what is a common courtesy is for the restaurateurs to add the price changes directly on the menu covering up the old prices. Usually it ends up being hand written on a white sticker. Since they did include a note that says "Prices subject to change" then they can do it without listing the price change directly on the menu but you're right it's not a good practice. If you want to go there again I suggest asking what the new prices are for the foods you want. If they have to go to the trouble of looking each one up before you order they might get tired of it and change the whole menu.
