How do you cite a quote that another author quoted?

I'm an reading an article for a paper and the author of that paper used a quote in his paper that i want to use in my paper. How do i quote it correctly? Also, when citing do i cite the author of the paper or the person who originally said it? I am using MLA and footnotes.
