how do we know the mayans stopped at 2012 because mabey their civilization

got wiped out? i needa know? if planet x was as big as they say, also getting closer to earth how could we not see this?, 2012 to me is a hoax because there making money out of it, why would the goverment make all that money and cant even use it when 2012 comes?, if someone can give me some hard evidence about this i would be thankful because this doomsday is spreading panic
 
2012 is when the Mayan calender ends in relation to theirs. If I were a guy making a calender on rock, papyrus, or whatever eventually you would have to stop making it. Why draw it out forever? The guy probably figured if his civilization was still around then someone would be smart enough to continue it. I mean shit, do you have a calender in your house for 2038 yet? How about 2011? Has any U.S. company printed a calender with 4076 on it? It doesn't mean a thing. Movies and what not will always play to people's fears because some people want to watch it. That's why there are movies about meteors, floods, Armageddon, the second coming, etc.
