How do salt concentration and/or ph affect the organisms in an environment?

I am trying to answer this question for my biology project and i need an experiment to test this question with my hypothesis (which i dont have yet). If anybody has any ideas to construct an experiment for this question that would awesome. Please tell me anything that would help.

not sure about salt, BUT ph is very important. there needs to be a good balance. The bases and acids cannot be too overwhelming. There needs to be a medium somewhere.
