How do parents judge boyfriends?

On first impressions what do you think parents judge their daughters boyfriend on?

Looks (Genetics for offspring pehaps?) or personality?

I have dated two girls so far this year and when i have asked them what their family thought of me.....they both said

'They think your really attractive'

Isnt that more of an observation than a judgement?
 
Well the mom just looks to see if he is cute and takes a guess if he's a good guy. The dad well......... one made me help them with the roofing, fix the car, but didn't mind....... I think he was trying to see if I was man enough or something. Sometimes dads hate you from the jump, always looking at the shot gun case...... that's kinda intimidating.
Dads are mainly the ones asking the personal Q's, very awkward.
 
ah, that's because you GF's are only telling the good parts of what the parents said. The actual conversation would go like:

GF: What did you think?
Parents: Well, he's really attractive, but he's an asshole

Or

GF: What did you think?
Mother: Well, he's really attractive, but he was eyeing me up the whole time.

definitely, like if your boyfriend has tattoos, piercings and an overly-gelled mohawk, your parents probably will not think highly of him.
but if he is "clean cut" your parents will probably be more willing to give him the time of day.
