How do infants react during a ph probe test for acid reflux?

I took my daughter to a specialist to be checked for acid reflux. He wants to do a ph probe on her, which has been explained to me as a tube that is put through the nose down to the stomach, and left there for 24 hours. Does baby feel it? Do they cry the whole time? Do they even know it's there? Is this a good test or should I ask for something else? My mom said they tried testing her that way years ago and she gagged and coughed the whole time, and had to have it removed after 8 hours. I'm scared baby will cry and be very uncomfortable. Anyone's baby had this done? How did they act? My baby is 4 months old.

Initially the baby feels the tube going down the nose and through to the stomach. The whole thing takes less then a minute to do. Once the tube is in there may be a little annoyed with it but it doesn't bother them that bad.
