points? I have a photography class on Mondays, and yesterday she explained that you have to put the negatives in a negative holder and then insert the negative holder into the enlarger, then adjust the enlarger and turn the light on for so many seconds to make a picture on paper. But yesterday there were too many people using the darkroom, so I figured I would try to wait until today and go back. But when I went over there today I don't think I saw any negative holders. I did notice a thing attached to the enlarger where it looked like there was a square hole, as if negatives were supposed to go there. For example the square hole was behind the accordion-looking thing in this picture (like on that white thing with screws in it) : http://www.cdegroot.com/photo/images/enlarger1.jpg
^ I thought maybe I was supposed to place the negatives over that square hole, but then how would they recieve any exposure to light being BEHIND the accordion thing if the light comes OUT OF the accordion thing?
does anyone just know where on an enlarger I am supposed to place the negatives in order to produce a picture on paper? And is it even necessary to have a negative holder, or could I just hold the negatives in place myself? Because I don't think I see any negative holders in there, and the professor is never there (she is only there on Mondays). Or, if I just place the negatives on the paper and expose them to light without using an enlarger, will this just make the pictures show up on the paper in their original (small) size? I just don't want to waste paper trying to do things because the paper is very expensive.
