How do I upload select photos onto my computer from my camera?

Every time I go to upload photos onto my computer every picture that I have saved onto my camera gets uploaded in the process. How do I go about uploading just one, or just the ones that I want to upload?
I have a Sony CyberShot if that matters.
 
Ok in the box you should have received a USB connection cord. Connect it to the end of the camera to the grey door and then connect the opposite end to the computer's USB port.(either @ the front or the back of the hard drive, if you have a desktop computer.) Then a window will pop up asking what to do, pick the 1st option and BINGO there you have it.
 
if you use vista:

when the window pops up asking you about the camera you plugged in, click open device to view photos, keep going through the camera files till you get to the pictures, then you can drag the thumbs of the photos to your "pictures" files
