I currently have 1.5 on my Hero but i have heard you can get the new 2.1 version but i don't know how could you tell me how to do this please?

I heard it was due out today. Go to the HTC websire www.htc.com and go to Support. Then choose the phone. If it's available it'll be on there with all the instructions. I updated mine that way last time there was an update and it was easy. You do need your IMEI number and serial number for the install. IMEI is got by *#06# I think, and the serial number is under the battery. You'll need HTC Sync installed on your PC too, which is available from their website or off the memory card that came with the phone.

The HTC Hero will get a firmware update from the current version of 1.5 to the newest version of Android, 2.1. It should be an over-the-air update, meaning you will be able to update right from your phone. It should happen within the next month or so. Taken from Sprint's twitter account: "Android update! Upgrades to 2.1 for Hero/Moment now expected early 2Q10. Currently working through options for upgrades w/ HTC and Samsung." 2Q10 meaning 2nd quarter of this year.

Sprint also says, "OTA vs. PC-based or in-store upgrade are "still TBD upgrade options" referenced in Android 2.1 tweet (working through w/ manufacturers)."

Hopefully they pull through with the 2.1 OTA update soon!
