How do I turn off the daytime running lights on my Honda Accord 2010(LX-P)?

Personally I don't see any good sense in having two rather bright lights on all the time(even on bright sunny days). Seems like it's a waste of battery juice to me---where else can the power come from other than battery? The dealer told me it's a safety feature which must stay on. I don't buy that, at least not on bright day lights. Can anyone show me how to disable it? Thanks.
