How do I transfer my number into a sim card so i can buy an unlocked blackberry?

Well I am with Bell Mobility, they never used sim cards before untill a few months back. so now ive decided to buy an unlocked phone, but is it possible for the phone to work?
or am i allowed to put my phone number on a sim card?
