How do i transfer an ipod library to a new imac, keep the library, add new

files, & make it my own-was my dads I just got a new ipod form my dad. He put his library on it, and I'd like to keep all the music on it, transfer it to my new imac, then add my own music (from CDs)...AND make the ipod mine (name wise..since the comp. will recognize it as his..)

How does one accomplish this?
